Feeding the Eagles

On Sunday Zanna and I went into Eagle River to watch the Eagles being fed.
Every Sunday at 11:00 the VFW feeds the eagles salmon. It was so cool to watch! There were tons and tons of eagles dotting the trees and flying about.

It was 7 degrees outside so Zanna sat in the car with the window rolled down to watch all the action. I thought my fingers were going to freeze as I was taking photos, they were totally numb. I am really ready for the weather to start warming up!

I took a ton of photos! Here are a few of my favorites.

This photo makes me chuckle. One of the eagles is a just a squawkin at another.

It was so cool to watch the eagles swoop down and grab the food.

How cool is that.
It is really cool to see all of the Alaskan wildlife! Well most of the time it is really cool... the only time thus far it hasn't been was a few weeks ago when I came ten feet from hitting a moose on the freeway. I about wet myself ;) Talk about an adrenaline rush!!

Missing my boys!

A very close friend of the Garrett's and some one very dear to Jathan passed away a few days ago.
We were so blessed to be able to have Jathan go to Utah and attend the funeral.
Unfortunately, one of the hardest parts of living so far away is how expensive it is to fly home. So Zanna, Troop and I were all going to stay. At the last minute Jathan had a brilliant idea to have Troop go with him since he still flies for free. Initially I thought it was a great idea and it would give me a break. Then I started packing his bag and started getting some serious anxiety... my little baby is leaving me for a week! I have never even left this child over night. I only ever leave him for a few hours here and there and even that is very rare.
So Zanna and I dropped Jathan and Troop off at the airport last night.

How handsome are my boys?

Zanna was beside herself. She was so sad that she did not get to go the airport and ride on an airplane too. She thinks that riding on an airplane = going to the cabin, because that is what we did last summer. The whole ride home she sobbed. "I want to go to the airport, I want to go to the big cabin and the little cabin and the lake"

Doesn't it break your heart? I told Zanna once the snow melts we will get on a plane and go to the cabin. She then said "look mom the snow is melted, we get to go to the cabin." That is also the same thing she said this morning when she woke up. Oh boy... it is going to be a long rest of winter!
On our ride home I started crying... I couldn't believe I let my baby go. Once Jathan called me and let me know they landed and told me Troop fell asleep right before the plane took off and woke up when Jathan stood up after the plane had landed, it calmed my nerves! I guess that is one nice thing about red eye flights, usually the children fall asleep!
We miss you two!

Adventures with Zanna

Here are some funny/cute photos of my little lady.
She LOVED dressing up and wearing her mama's shoes

Always finding something creative to do with her lizard!

And again the lizard!

He has found a new ride!

Apparently he likes to watch TV too!

Zanna loves to help me with the laundry. She has to do everythig. Put the money in the coin op laundry slot, pour in the detergent, put in the clothes, shut the lid, push the button.

And again with the lizard. I guess most of her adventures involve her best little friend... who she is now not able to play with. The poor little guy got stepped on :( so we are hoping for a quick recovery!

Poor Little Beta!

Oh Boy... whatever shall we do with this little lady?
We were recently given a cute little twin bed for Zanna. But there is a small problem... she can now reach into her fish tank. I caught her with the Beta in her hand, watching his little gills gasping for air. I talked to her and let her know the Beta will die if we take him out of the water and told her she is never to take him out again.

Well curiosity got the best of my little Zanna. She took him out again! Jathan went into her room and found the poor little guy floating at the top of the tank.
He fished him out and told Zanna we only kill things we are going to eat. He talked about how he hunts and the animals he hunts feed our family. Then he told her to open wide... she had to eat the beta! Oh boy, she started sobbing... she was so sad. Then he told her she didn't really have to eat the fish but that in the future if she killed something she would have to eat it! I hope she learned her lesson! And let's pray she doesn't kill anything else. I don't want to feel like I have to make her eat it ;)
(I do dress my child... but she ALWAYS takes her shirt off... I just can't keep her clothed)

Valentines Day

When Jathan got back from work on Valentines day I had to run to the post office to drop off some packages. When I got back, this is what I came home to! A beautifully set table, a dozen red roses, beautiful balloons for the kiddos, my favorite turtle chocolates, danish, and chicken Alfredo! YUMMY!!! It was so fun to be surprised and spend Valentine's with my little family! I married a good man!

Troop and Zanna loved the balloons! They were actually the cause of much contention that night! Even though there were plenty of balloons to go around they still figured out how to get in little tiffs over them!

After dinner, Zanna and I made Valentine's for all of her cute little friends in Joy School. They were having a Valentine exchange at school which she LOVED. She came home with the funnest little cards and goodies.!!

Happy V Day!!

Mama

Happy Birthday Mama! I wish I was in Utah to celebrate with you and wish you a Happy Birthday in person {wipe a tear}

I think I have the worlds cutest mom. She is so great! She is fun, loving, adventuresome, giving, the list goes on.

I am grateful you are my mother !

(most of the pictures I have posted are of my mom doing her favorite things. I should have included more photos of her with her 8 children and her many grand kids... since we occupy most of her time;)

Love you mama!
